Celebrating Earth Hour with Youth!

Wind Turbine Activity

Earth Hour is a global event that raises awareness about sustainability and climate change by encouraging people to turn off their lights for one hour. As part of this initiative, the Climate Change Secretariat, in partnership with the Department of Environment and the City of Iqaluit, organized a series of activities to highlight the importance of Earth Hour, energy conservation, and climate action.

One of these activities was a wind turbine building workshop at Iqaluit’s Youth Centre. Participants were introduced to the concepts and mechanics of sustainable energy and electricity generation. The youth had the opportunity to design and build their own miniature wind turbines, gaining hands-on experience with sustainable energy. Activities like this not only make learning engaging but also inspire young people to take an active role in shaping a more sustainable future.
